2022 NFL season, Week 1: Everything You Need to Know

The 2022 NFL season has started, with 16 teams vying to grab the Lombardi Trophy on February 3rd, 2023 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. With the Seattle Seahawks upsetting the New England Patriots in last year’s Super Bowl, there are no guarantees that one of last year’s top four will be this year’s champion (sorry Carolina fans). Here’s everything you need to know about this season’s first set of games.

The first NFL games of the 2022 season are in the books, and there’s plenty to talk about, so let’s take a look at everything that happened Sunday, from news around the league to notable injuries to the best performances and more. Here’s what we learned from Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.

First quarter updates

Injuries and injuries played a big role on Sunday. Starting in the late afternoon game, Saints kicker Cody Parkey was carted off after injuring his leg kicking a field goal in their win over the Browns. In Buffalo, Bills running back LeSean McCoy injured his calf in the first quarter against the Patriots and had to leave the game.

Second quarter updates

Sunday night saw the defending champion Cowboys take on the reigning champion Buccaneers in a game that was never much of a contest. Dak Prescott's three touchdowns in the first half and eight touchdown passes overall coupled with Jaylon Smith's defensive interception in the end zone clinched it for Dallas. The two teams meet again at 10am tomorrow morning. Elsewhere, Houston came back from behind with two touchdowns in the last five minutes and ended up winning their matchup against New England by 20 points; 23-3.

Half time update

We're only halfway through the first week of the season and there have already been some notable injuries. Julio Jones hurt his hamstring on Sunday night, setting him back at least one game. Meanwhile, DJ Moore is out for an extended period of time after breaking his fibula in last night's game against the Chargers. Other than that, there haven't been many other injuries or big news stories that have surfaced this week

Final updates

This week was full of a lot of interesting stories and subplots as the young future stars in the league came out to show they have what it takes to be one of the new faces in football. Several quarterbacks, including Marques Taylor and Cade Reynolds made their debut and both impressed fans with their throwing ability. The Jacksonville Jaguars' dual-threat sensation running back Dylan Mayo showed that he's not going anywhere but up with three touchdowns and 210 yards against the Bears on Sunday night. On the other side of things, players like Dak Prescott are dealing with injuries that threaten their seasons and may limit how high they can ascend this year. This week brought plenty of action from all across America - stay tuned for next week!
