The fifth season of the hit comedy Cobra Kai definitely does not disappoint, taking viewers through an emotional rollercoaster ride with shocking plot twists and unexpected surprises along the way. As the entire world already knows, Cobra Kai Season 5 has just been released on YouTube Premium, and if you haven’t already seen it, there are two things you should know right away: 1) This is the best season yet; and 2) If you need to catch up on any episodes before watching this latest one, you have plenty of time—the first 4 seasons are still available!

If you are a fan of 'Cobra Kai' or not (and you should be), this season has been, in a word, perfect. After months of waiting to see how Cobra Kai would deal with the repercussions of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence's (William Zabka) last encounter, Cobra Kai Season 5 has now aired on YouTube Red and it's safe to say that it delivers in every possible way.

Season 5 of Cobra Kai kicks off with Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) returning to their roots, teaching karate to their students at Miyagi-Do in Reseda, California. After all these years and the intense rivalry that ensued between the two men, it’s almost hard to believe that they’re now friends, but that’s exactly what happened after Daniel bested Johnny in the All Valley Karate Tournament during season 4 of Cobra Kai.

A lot can change in 20 years — but in the case of Cobra Kai, not much has changed. If you’re an 80s child, you’ll remember the movie The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. It was released in 1984, but its popularity hasn’t diminished over the years; in fact, it still has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes today, proving that no matter how many times it’s watched, there’s always something to enjoy about this classic underdog story.

The latest installment of Cobra Kai is gripping from start to finish and has been praised for its storyline that left you with a tear in your eye. Though many can agree it's not as great as season one, it still holds up against previous seasons and hits hard in many ways. How does this compare with other reviews? Cobra Kai was written by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald - the same writing team behind Harold & Kumar and American Pie.

The cinematography is reminiscent of The Karate Kid. Almost all of Cobra Kai Season 5 takes place in two locations: Johnny's Barber Shop and The San Fernando Valley Drive-In Theater. It's a cinematographer's dream because there are always only two people on screen at any given time, which means that every detail, every single action has meaning.

It's all about taking the opportunity that's in front of you and making it work. Thankfully, season five of Cobra Kai accomplishes this feat better than any other season before it. From begging to end, this season never slowed down--and if you're anything like me then this is something you'll absolutely love. In John Brown--the new protagonist for season five--fans are presented with an entirely new take on Johnny Lawrence. Whether or not this was what fans wanted is irrelevant; he is a much more interesting character than his counterparts and only causes trouble for himself as opposed to others.

When you read 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, the first thing that probably comes to mind is snarky comments about just how much better your mom’s lasagna was than anything you’ve ever tasted from the local Italian restaurant. But what does it really mean when something gets 100% on Rotten Tomatoes? It means that every single critic reviewed Season 5 of Cobra Kai and gave it a perfect score of 10 out of 10 stars.
