René Pérez Joglar born on February 23, 1978, he is most known for being one of the founding members of the alternative rap group Calle 13. In 2017, Residente issued his first album as a solo artist. More than any other Latin musician, he has received 27 Latin Grammy Awards and four Grammy Awards.
Residente was born and reared in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she first became interested in music, art, and left-leaning politics. In Savannah, Georgia, he attended the Savannah College of Art and Design to study art. He later came back to Puerto Rico to work on music with his stepbrother Visitante, with whom he founded Calle 13. His sardonic and self-deprecating lyrical style attracted both admiration and ire early in his career. Five critically acclaimed and financially successful albums were created by the trio.
A genealogical DNA test the artist undertook to understand more about his ancestry served as the inspiration for his album Residente, which was recorded in several different countries and featured a wide variety of international musical styles. After that, he dropped the singles "Sexo" in 2018 and "Bellacoso."
For UNICEF and Amnesty International campaigns, he serves as the spokesperson. He has received recognition for his social contributions. The rights of indigenous peoples and Latin American education have always been causes he has steadfastly supported. He lambasted Puerto Rico's then-governor Luis Fortuo in 2009 for firing more than 30,000 public workers. Residente was recognized for his dedication to advancing peace and raising social consciousness in November 2015 in Barcelona at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates event.
